About RES LEGAL
Structure and contents of the database
RES LEGAL is a professionally edited collection of important legal sources on support schemes and grid issues in the EU's 27 member states. RES LEGAL aims both to provide a quick overview of the different national legal frameworks and to present detailed information on provisions regarding individual generation technologies (wind, solar, geothermal and water energy, biogas and biomass) in a clear, concise and convenient way.
For this reason research on and review of all relevant national regulatory frameworks regarding support schemes and grid issues for electricity from renewable sources were entrusted to a team of legal experts in 2007 and 2008. The database is updated on a regular basis. The creation date and the last update of the information presented are always clearly indicated. RES LEGAL is based on original legislation. Links to the original legal sources in their original language will help you in your research. If available, you can also use a link to a translation of the law. In addition, this website provides you with a list of contacts in national bodies and experts that will answer any further questions.
In order to facilitate your search, all information on any of the 27 countries reviewed on RES LEGAL is organised in the same way, which enables you to search in a more targeted manner and to compare information more easily. Information on every country is presented in two main sections: support schemes and grid issues. Each of these sections is further divided into the following sub-sections:
- The overview of legal framework provides you with basic information on the support measures and the most important grid issues in a country of your choice.
- The sub-sections "overview of support system" and "overview of grid issues" include more extensive information on support schemes and grid issues.
- The last sub-section presents all support measures and regulations regarding connection to, use of and expansion of the grid in detail.
You can access more detailed information on a related legal source by clicking on the links in the column on the right side of the screen. In addition, you can find a list of contacts for further information in the second sub-section (overview of support system or overview of grid issues).
